Kazoo Beta
One day you could wake up and Kazoo is released.
We are pleased to announce that Kazoo, our new user interface and server combination, is now available as a beta.
Kazoo has four headline features, (some of these feature will only be available when using Kazoo with Kazoo server).

Kazoo provides quick access to albums, artists and genres. Each category presented in the best way to provide fast and easy browsing.

Classical music browsing
Kazoo provides support for classical music through the Classical category. The Classical category contains only classical tracks, which are grouped by composer.

Kazoo provides support for searching track information. The results are categorised by albums, artists, and tracks.
Kazoo's search additionally provides support for classical music by adding a Classical category to the search results. The Classical category contains only classical tracks, which are grouped by composer.

Kazoo makes multi-room management and control easy.
Kazoo allows rooms to be grouped together and then provides a master volume control for the group, as well as individual volume control for the rooms that make up the group.

Kazoo has been designed to support the features we have now but also to be easily extended for features we want in the future (and rapid iterations to these features).
At this point we are interested in beta testers with the following set-ups:
A Linn DS system controlled by on or more of,
- a MacBook, Mac Mini or iMac
- a laptop or desktop running Windows
- an iPad
We are particularly keen on feedback from users with a music server running on,
- a MacBook, Mac Mini or iMac
- a laptop, desktop or NAS running Windows

Q1: I would love to try Kazoo and provide feedback; how do I do that?
A1: Great! We are really keen to get your feedback.
You will need to download two pieces of software to start using Kazoo, Kazoo (the control application) and Kazoo Server (the server application).

Q2: I would love to try Kazoo for iPad; how do I do that?
A2: In order to install Kazoo on an iPad the iPad needs to be part of our beta program. To be considered for the program you should PM davidd with your iPad's UDID, iPad model and what DSs you have in your setup.
UDIDs will be added to the beta program in stages and the added UDIDs will be posted back in the Kazoo beta thread.

Q3: I have been using Kazoo for a while and I would like to provide you with some feedback. How do I do that?
A3: Great, we are really keen to get your feedback. You can provide us with feedback using the “Report to Linn” button (found in Settings) or, if you prefer, you can leave a post in the developer forum.

Q4: Now that Kazoo has been released will Kinsky disappear?
A4: No. Kinsky will remain available. If this changes we will let you know.
Q5: What is Kazoo Server?
A5: Kazoo server is a media server that implements the standard UPnP/AV media server specification and the OpenHome Media (ohMedia) Server specification. The ohMedia server specification is analogous to the ohMedia renderer specification that the Linn DS implements. The ohMedia server specification is what has made Kazoo's browsing and searching experience possible and it will allow further improvements in the future.
Q6: Can I use both Kinsky and Kazoo to control my Linn system?
A6: Yes. Kinsky and Kazoo will operate correctly when used together in a Linn system, both when run on different devices and when run on the same device.
Q7: I have an Android tablet; can I try out Kazoo?
A7: Not yet. We are currently seeking feedback for the set-ups outlined above. However, Android is high on our list of features to add to Kazoo.
Q8: I have an iPhone/iPod/Android phone; can I try Kazoo?
A8: Not yet. We are currently seeking feedback for the set-ups outlined above. However, phone support is on our list of features to add to Kazoo.
Q9: I currently run a media server on a linux-based NAS; can I try Kazoo?
A9: Absolutely. Kazoo works with both the ohMedia server specification and the UPnP/AV media server specification. However, the new browse and search features will only be available if you use Kazoo Server.
Q10: I currently run a linux-based media server on a NAS; can I try Kazoo Server?
A10: Not yet. However, support for QNAP is high on our list of features to add to Kazoo Server.
Q11: I have playlists that I created using Kinsky; will they still work?
A11: Not yet. Kazoo has no support for saved playlists. However, playlists are on our list of features to add to Kazoo. If playlist support is an important feature for you please continue to use Kinsky.
Q12: I use the Kinsky iTunes plugin/Songbox iTunes plugin with Kinsky; can I still do this with Kazoo?
A12: Not yet. Kazoo has no support for iTunes. However, iTunes support is on our list of features to add to Kazoo. If iTunes support is an important feature for you please continue to use Kinsky.
Q13: I use the Kinsky BBC plugin/Songbox BBC plugin with Kinsky; can I still do this with Kazoo?
A13: Not yet. Kazoo has no support for media apps. However, media apps support is on our list of features to add to Kazoo. If media apps support is an important feature for you please continue to use Kinsky.
Q14: I use a 3rd party UPnP/AV media server and it supports search; will I be able to search with Kazoo?
A14: Not yet. Kazoo only supports search using the ohMedia server specification. However, support for search on UPnP/AV media servers is on our list of features to add to Kazoo.
Q15: How do I get my classical music to appear under the classical tab?
A15: You need have tagged your classical tracks with the composer tag and have “Classical” in a genre tag. Note that “Classical” needs to start with a capital C! You can tag your tracks using your favourite tag editor.
Q16: I have a UPnP/AV media renderer can I control this with Kazoo?
A16: Not yet. Kazoo only supports ohMedia renderers. However, support for UPnP/AV media renderers is on our list of features to add to Kazoo.
