Very old LP12 in need of care

Hello,

my first post in this forum, I hope these questions have not been asked too many time.

My father gave me his old Linn Sondek LP12 he is no longer using. Serial Number 10770, looks like from early 70's. It has a Grace 707 arm; from what I read on the internet that appears to be classic 70s combo; the cartridge was a Satin MC, but the stylus is worn and it is not worth fixing. I fitted my cartridge, a Goldring GX1012, which might not be up to par with the turntable, but that is the best I have.
Just to restore it to working condition, I have disassembled the motor, lubed both bearings and the external thrust bearing; I lubed the platter bearing and adjusted the springs so that the platter is levelled and the arm mount board is aligned with the chassis.
I have to say I never thought vinyl can sound so good, but I have a couple of questions/doubts:
1) I hear a bit of rumble noise, I think it's 200 Hz, and it's coming from the motor. Is there anything I can do to remove it, or is it a sign the motor bearings are worn ?
2) there is no Valhalla power supply, the motor is directly fed from 230v 50Hz; there are just a couple of capacitors connected to a terminal board where the motor, the power chord and the switch button (with light) are connected. Those capacitors are ~40 years old and might have degraded, but are they critical for a good motor performance ?

any help or suggestion is appreciated.
thanks

Enrico
