Roon sounds worse than Tidal?

I would like a clarification from Linn development team on the following.
Me and another Linnie confirmed that Tidal streamed though Roon sound slightly inferior to Tidal directly.

Is there any difference in clocking of the audio stream through raat vs normal streaming?

I tried massive attack. Singles 90-98 and the track sly.

Roon sounds a little more confused compared to streaming from tidal directly. Is this imagination or is there any reason this could happen?

If yes. Is this expected?
Is it something Linn can "Fix" in a later update, like the airplay improvement when we went from remote clocking to internal reflecting?

I have a KDSM/2 and use analog output to K320+345?
Is there a diff[/u]erence between Exakt and Analouge how raat data is handled?

Thanks for any reply or anyone else noticing a similar difference.

New case for ADSM

I have bought a used ADSM with some slight scratches on the case so I would like to change the case for my ADSM ( a black one from 2012 ). Does someone know the price or is it possible to repair ?

No Play/Pause/Skip in Kazoo - Help....

I have a Majik DS and Exotik pre-amp. I purchased a data cable (from flashback) specifically for Linn RS232 so I can control the volume of the Exotic from Kazoo. Plugged it in a set the preamp in Linn Konfig Accurate, no Exotic option but I believe the Exotic is basically an Accurate. Did the reboot and in Kazoo I can now control the volume but the play / pause / skip buttons are now greyed out so I can't skip, pause, etc. in Kazoo.

Please help. It's not that cable as that's working. I don't understand why Kazoo has disabled the controls for the DS now.

Going Aktiv increases sound level?

I've been fortunate enough to get a pair of Katans plus 2 stereo Aktiv cards for my LK85s at a very reasonable price. I set them up first as Passive Bi-wired just to compare them to my previous Celestion 100s (not that different at modest levels), then put the Aktiv cards into the LK85s and reconfigured the speakers accordingly.
Apart from an immediately livelier sound I also noticed that I was getting previous output volumes but at a lower pre-amp setting.
Is this an expected feature, and if so, is it down to the Aktiv cards themselves, or that the internal speaker crossovers required more driving - or something else?
If anyone knows the technical answer(s) it would be interesting to hear, but for now I'll just enjoy the really pleasant sound...

Where to put some money into my LP12

Hi,

I own an LP12 with an early serial number, something like 157--, i believe its mid 1970's. The plinth is fluted Afromosia in excellent condition. Tonearm is an Ittok LVII with an Audio Technica AT33PTG/II low-output moving coil cartridge. Power supply is a Lingo 3 which was installed 2 years ago by my Linn dealer. I plan on visiting my dealer with my LP12 in the next month or so. Some ideas I had were, Cirkus bearing. I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have it but my dealer will be able to tell. A new sub-chassis, maybe a Majik? My budget is $500-$1000. I know the Kore is $1200, from what I was quoted. I also asked my dealer about plinths and he said usually he changes them if one is ancient or badly damaged. Just looking for some ideas from you guys on where to begin.

subwoofer rca connections

Hi everybody.
As I bought a subwoofer recently, i have a question about the connection of it. I want to connect it low level (with rca). My adsm has two pre-amp outputs (variable). Is it ok that the output is variable or does it has to be a fixed output. What about GAIN settings on the sub when conected to a variable output on the preamp?
What should happen if the sub is connected to a fixed output ? (not the case here, just to know)

Majik 140 Speakers

Im considering a change of speakers to fill a gap - the bottom end.

Currently, i'm running 109's Exakt'd with a Majik Exaktbox and Akurate Exakt DSM

The obvious option being 140's, given i have the Exaktbox-i with 8 channels ava, and i like the 109 sound alot.

The problem, the speakers will need to be fairly close to the front wall, can probably allow 10cm say (which i know isn't great!). Presume i would use the foam bungs and being Exakt'd and SO - the closeness of the wall might be ok?

My room is 5meters deep and 4meters wide, but suspended floor.


thoughts??

my other options.

Series 5 speakers 520/530 and sell the Exaktbox-i
or
add an Exaktsub box and something like a Majik or Akurate sub S/H

Inner platter diameter consistency

Hi,

Just finished replacing a customer's LP12 old bearing and inner platter with a new Cirkus bearing kit and lo and behold the outer platter does not fit on top of the new inner platter. Sad

Has anyone seen this before?

Replacing cartridge for LP12

Hi there,

I inherited an LP12 from my uncle about a year ago - it's quite an old thing and the stylus in the Ortofon cartridge has completely worn out, so I'm looking at replacing it.

Took to the internet to look at new moving coil cartridges and I'm getting prices from £100-1000+, and as a student most of it is just completely out of my price bracket for the foreseeable future.

I'm wondering what you'd suggest here for a decent, good-value option, so I can get playing records again. Feel very lucky to have such a premium turntable, but seems that when things go wrong I just can't afford the mainstream replacement options!

Headshell lines Ittok LVII

Hey,

I have a previous thread going re: changing the cartridge but this has become more of a troubleshooting concern!

I'm currently changing the cartridge on my LP12/Ittok LVII and noticed on removing the old cartridge that the headshell wiring solder looked a bit dodgy (maybe a home job by its previous owner). I had a little screwdriver I was using to press the wires in/out and gave a prod to the green wire... which proceeded to fall off.

Is it as simple as
1) Get a soldering iron
2) re-heat solder or add another blob
3) press wire back into clip
4) tweeze cartridge-side wires back into the new cartridge
5) re-align etc, and play

???

Hi Folks, I see the Kazoo app had a recent version bump, I thought this was support for Roon, however this morning I started a free 14 trial or Roon and it's not picking up my Akurate as a device, I can only Airplay to it....this being that case, I'll likley cancel Roon. Anyone else got it working?
