Linn Isobarik passive Crossover schematic
Hello,
Very new member here. I have an extra set of active bricks that I want to do something with. I have a very capable electronics person who has said he would build me a set of passive crossovers for them if I could get him a schematic. Is that possible? I have looked but found nothing. I found some very good pictures with cap values ect but not quite everything he would need.
Or I could go the active way using different components than Linn or Naim. Why, you ask? Cost. and availability. He says he could set something up with one of several different type/brands of active crossovers that would work. He builds pro gear so is very familiar with Active setups.
I already have a full active Linn Brik setup so my first choice is to go passive.
Or... sell as is with no crossovers. I am not sure how much of a market there is for them.
Thought and suggestions of all kinds are most welcome.
I am in Canada out west by the way.

inner platter - original or counterfeit
Hi
Are there counterfeit inner platter/bearing parts out there?
I have found a inner platter+bearing (black liner) on eBay. The seller is very helpful, and has sent me all the pictures I have requested. The spindle bearing, however, appears to be more tapered with not such a rounded tip.
It could be because mine is so worn out at the tip. It is hard to tell.
Thanks

System to update
Hi everyone,
New to the forum.
I have a question, maybe it has already been posted, but cannot find answers...
I have 1999 system, composed of what you can see:
- Keltik speakers
- 4 LK240 power amp
- 2 Klout amp
- 1 kairn pre-amp
- 1 Ikemi CD player
- 1 Pekin tuner
![[Image: mgmGIUs.jpg]]()
Since 5 years everything has been packed in a closet, while I was in a provisional home, but in a couple of months I will be moving to a fixed house.
What I need to know is, for connecting this system to my TV and listening to streaming music, what should I update?
Thanks in advance...

Linn DS Discovery over WiFi
I wonder if Linn would look at this issue again. I have just had yet another experience of my DS not being found on my Android tablet running BubbleDS Next. I know all the usual fixes, which in this case required a router reboot.
It was particularly annoying this time as my Windows tablet with Kazoo on it was unavailable - at least in there refreshing the network or even entering into Settings oftentimes finds the DSM. No such option in Bubble. So I was playing a playlist but no way to control it (my remote was also unavailable), so until the router rebooted I was totally out of the loop.
All my other UPnP/DLNA whatever devices (NAS, TV, Denon) show up through WiFi when this happens, but not the DSM.

Music dropouts getting worse.
I've only had the Sneaky's a month. Initially all was a fine but I'm experiencing more and more dropouts of music. Sometimes I can play a whole album streaming from the NAS and there's no stoppage of the music. Then another time I can have several 5-15 seconds or so of music stopping on my next listen before starting again. It's beginning to drive me nuts!
Initially I thought it was the internet stream being interrupted but now I don't think so. When the music stops if I go straight to the control point and start it playing again it does so immediately. Everything seems fine on Spotify, it just seems to happen when playing from the NAS.
Both Sneaky's have up to date firmware. Internet is 100meg Virgin cable.
Could this be a NAS issue or perhaps another network problem? Both Sneaky's are behaving the same.
Any help would be appreciated!
Mike.

How to unscrew the Linn Basik LV X ?
Hello Linners,
Do you know how to unscrew the double screw of the tonearm head Basik LV X ?
In fact I try to rewire the tonearm, but I am not able the remove the axis of the main bearing. I need to do it also to tight the screws under the head.
Any idea, or do I need a special device to do it ?

Kazoo Server not showing in System Tray or in Konfig
I run Kazoo Server on Windows 10 OS (64 bit), together with Konfig and Kazoo. At a recent date - between 17-Sep and 22-Sep - Kazoo Server no longer appears in the System Tray, is not visible in Konfig and music files do not show on Kazoo.
Linn Kazoo Server 4.7.1215 shows as an installed application, and it appears as a program running in background on Task Manager. The only change that I have noticed is that Spotify now appears in Kazoo.
Any ideas?

Klimax Renew DS/1 or Akurate DS/2?
Hi all Linn DS Users,
I am currently a Majik DS/0 user and planning to upgrade this gear. So far, I find both Klimax Renew DS/1 and Akurate DS/2 in the market. To my understanding, ADS is the latest model and K Renew is some extend the flagship of last generation. Which one I should have?
Thanks a lot!!!!

New to Linn and need some help please
Hi
I've just got a Linn system with a Wakonda pre-amp, two LK100 power amps and a pair of Keilidh speakers.
Having a real problem understanding the instructions to Bi-Amp/Bi-wire the speakers. The Wakonda has two line outs so I guess each one goes to the Amps? Or do i just link the Amps together? I get any of the speaker outputs go to bass and treble, without the link in place.
Its really how to connect the Wakonda to the Amps I'm struggling with.
Confused!

Compatibility and changes in Linn tonearm base collars
Compatibility and changes in Linn tonearm base collars...
Other than early Ittoks and maybe Basiks (?) all Linn tonearms have had what at first sight looks like identical arm collars. However, I have recently noticed that on some, the tonearm securing bolt points downwards slightly whereas others are perfectly horizontally drilled. Also, some are an aluminium alloy and some are steel. Does anyone know the reasons for these changes (other than 'progress'), and which arms they apply to. I suspect that the angled securing bolts are a more recent innovation, and the change in materials used possibly due to compensating for extra weight in the tonearm materials.
I also notice that the fixed collar on the Keel (obviously aluminium alloy) is actually hollowed out on the underside, whereas ALL the 'loose' collars are solid.
Anyone able to confirm Linn's reasoning or my thoughts?
Thank you.

The Importance of an Outstanding Dealer
This week I had arranged with Peter Swain of Cymbiosis to have the final upgrade of my Peter Swain Signature LP12 No.57 upgraded with a Urika “in deck” phonostage. replacing my faithful Naim Prefix. I loved the Naim sound and had wavered taking this final step. But I need not have worried. Having taken the final step in the upgrade path I can report that Peter has done a fantastic job.
The service and upgrade was originally due last week, but “The Beast from The East” snow storm, cocked everything up. Thankfully all that white stuff has gone now. Funny isn’t it, that when the snow is falling we all think “oh how beautiful” But the next day, all we want is for it to melt and go!
But reaaringing with Peter, The opportunity arose this week and off I went up to Cymbiosis.
Next morning we set off and the traffic was awful but I arrived at Peter’s at about eleven’ish. After warm greetings all round Peter got to work. My deck had not been sounding it’s best of late and, as I knew that there had been a wear spot on the bearing spindle, I suspected that my thirty year old bearing was on its way out. Unfortunately, on inspection Peter confirmed that the bearing was very worn and needed replacing. So now, it was not just a Urika but a complete strip down and a new bearing and inner and outer platter as the lastest ones are machined differently. And they do look so beautiful and “shiny, shiny”.
Three hours later and PS No.57 was ready. Once again I was so impressed, not just with Peter’s LP12 skills but his continually striving for that nth degree of perfection. I thought the deck was done two hours in. Everything was together, finely tuned and a record had been played, but no, Peter spent another complete hour doing the minutest of tweaks until he was content that No.57 was not just spot on, it was beyond the boundaries expected of a Klimax LP12.
At last, we sat down together in the dem room and Peter played Time Out by the Dave Brubeck quartet. Now I know this album very well, but No.57 through a Naim 552-500 into Kudos Titans was beyond breathtaking. I was just knocked out by the holographic tunefulness, the majesty and power she was kicking out. I could clearly hear how the new bearing was allowing the deck and new Urika to sing so, so musically and with such unbelievable power. It was breathtaking. Peter remarked understatedly, hmm, now that’s a good un, a really good un. He was not wrong, it sounded simply phenomenal!
I continued to play more albums totally enthralled until it was time to leave and go and grab wifey away from shopping.
Back home, No.57 sounded even more musical through the Briks. Just so, so majestically dynamic and musical. I could not stop playing records till about 3am, when I could no longer keep my eyes open.
So, except for a few hours sleep I’ve been listening to records for pretty much non stop now and it continues to enthrall. I now have a whole new record collection.
So now all that remains, is for me to once again praise the skills of the Leicester Guru, Peter Swain, a dealer, who goes above and beyond to achieve absolute perfection for his clients. For example, I will not forget how ill I was when I wanted to have the Radikal upgrade and unable to travel, so Peter came out of his way all the way from Leicester to my home to fit it. There was no extra charge for this, it was just part of the extra mile that he and the Cymbiosis team go to.
It is so important to find a dealer who excels like this, such as Peter and he is a credit to the Linn team.
Thank you so much for such wonderful music. It was an epic day out and my L
P12 sounds simply, breathtakingly stunning.
Warmest regards

Kinsky shows rooms, but not Kazoo
Kinsky is working great on my Mac Mini, but when I launch Kazoo, it just spins looking for rooms and never finds any. I have several devices, including my own UPnP renderer, Raspberry Pi and a Sonos. Kazoo cannot detect any of them. Kinsky detects all of them.
I am running Minimserver with Kinsky and Kazoo.
I would like to use Kazoo with Tidal, which I cannot do with Kinsky.
Thanks

Vintage Linn 1990' s
Hi. I just came into possession of a older Linn system. It consists of three LK100 amps and the Keilidh speakers. I took some pictures before disassembling but apparently not enough. One amp has treble and mid cards installed. The second has treble and a bass card installed and the third has two mid cards. The trebled are a left channel on one amp and a right on the other. My confusion is why there is only one bass card and three mids? I would of thought there would be two of each card to tri-amp the speakers. Any help would be appreciated.

Exaktbox - Katalyst upgrade options any thoughts?
I could use some help in deciding my next move with regards to Exakt Box – Katalyst upgrade
I’m currently running an AEB10 for my pair of 242’s and a 2nd AEB10 for my center channel 225 (the rest of the system is in my signature). Moving to Katalyst I’ve some options.
But before I roll out the list. I’ve been told that a pair of AEB6’s sound better than a single AEB10 which I ask, is it because a pair of 6’s would each be running mono? If so would a pair of 10’s running mono be equal to, or would they still fall short? This has impact to the option 3 below.
Option one – Have the one AEB10 for the 242’s upgraded with Katalyst and call it a day. No change to box count.
Option two – Buy two new AEB6’s with Katalyst and sell one of my 10’s. +1 to box overall box count.
Option three – Have both my AEB10’s upgraded with Katalyst, run one each mono to the 242’s, buy an MEB-I run it 4 channel to the 225 and sell the 5100 I’m currently using to drive it. +1 to overall box count.
Option four - Option 2&3 hybrid, Buy two new AEB6’s with Katalyst for the 242’s, buy an MEB-I run it 4 channel mono to the 225 and sell the 5100 and both AEB10’s. +1 to overall box count.
Option Five – KEB6’s…… don’t go there it’s not an option![Tongue Tongue]()
