Not quite sure which sub forum to post on however I am curious what LINN users do for headphone listening. This topic comes up on the Naim forum however I have not seen it here.

I am getting back to headphone listening and have been researching headphones for use on the airplane (B&O H9 wireless with ANC- B&W P7 wireless as a toy for home).

I want to use wired headphones at home. My Klimax DS fronts a Naim 552/500. The only thing I can figure out is getting a headphone amplifier and attaching it to the TAPE outs on the 552. The KDS feeds the 552 so I will get the benefit of the KDS

Are there other things people are doing for headphone listening with their KDS systems? What are they connecting to their KDSM since that now functions as the preamp ( with the demise of the Klimax Kontrol)?

Hi!

I today have akurate dsm exakt with majik exaktbox-1 and majik 140.
This i run together with exakt subbox and 2 akurate 226 subwoofers.
Im very happy with how it sounds but have been thinking about replacing the majik 140 with akurate 212. This because i really like the 3k array compared to 2k array.

I now have seen a nice pair of akurate 242 for sale.
I know that running akurate 242 with exakt is impossible with exaktbox-1 because it needs more channels.

Now i wonder if its possible to run a pair of akurate 242 with my exaktbox-1 if i tell konfig that i have a pair of akurate 212 instead?
Then i wouldnt use the bass element in akurate 242.
I do have dual sub setup so there wouldnt be lack of bass i suppose.

My question is if the 3k array and upper element of akurate 242 is the same as in 212? Are there big differenses in the crossover frequencys?

If i do this then i will in the future change my exaktbox-1 for exaktbox 10 and akurate amps, total of ten channels.
Then i have an upgrade path to follow for a while!

Is this possible or do i need to change the exaktbox-1 before even thinking about akurate 242 or should i instead look for akurate 212?

I phoned into the Blood Donation Service this morning to book an appointment to donate a pint of blood.

As part of an extensive list of donor screening questions, they always ask if you have travelled in the last 3 months.

So I mentioned that I had just visited England, Spain, Holland, Germany, Wales, Ireland, Scotland and back to England.

The person at Blood Services is required to check each country from their list, to see if the potential donor has visited an area of the world where they potentially might have been exposed to malaria. If that is the case, you are deferred from donating for one year.

She checked off all the countries I listed and then asked "Is Scotland a country?"

I said "Pardon me, you are asking me if Scotland is a country?"

She said, "It is not on my list."

No Kidding!!

I was speechless, but could not contain my laughter.

I explained it is currently part of the United Kingdom, you know Britain, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

She did not buy it.

So there you go, "Does Scotland really exist?"

Now I am not sure.

Time to replace my hard disks?

I have a Akurate Music Server (AMS). It is working nicely.

I have just checked the hard disk's SMART data. Two have been running for 66,000 hours, which is over 7.5 years continuously.

Whilst this is a long time.

How long have other people's hard disk been running?

Are anyone's over 10 years?

If they are, then I will not bother replacing them quite yet.

Hi,

I have a feature suggestion for DS(M) players. As the number of digital active speakers is rising (e.g. Nubert, Dynaudio, Kii) but most of them don't have a proper room correction it could be interesting to have the ability to configure the SPDIF out to output the digital signal including the Space Optimization algorithms.

For digital speakers without volume control it could be also interesting to choose from analog volume control (only for analogue outs) or digital volume control (for all outputs).

This would give the DS(M) players a maximum flexibility to serve as the ultimate control center for all kinds of speaker setups including passive, analog active and digital active speakers with a one of a kind feature set including phono preamp, analogue ins, digital ins, ADC, DAC, room correction and an excellent streamer in one box, configurable for all kinds of speakers.

I updated Konfig to 4.32.47.
There was an update in Beta for my Akubarik Exakts.
After updating the Sound ist horrible with a snaring echo sound.

Anybody else installed them yet? I'm useless at describing what's different, except to say that I like whatever they're doing! It's a much easier listen, you don't have to dig (if you can dig with your ears!) for the details, everything just flows better.

Hi there,

Anyone know where I might source a Linn Lingo 1 connection kit? That would be the switch, circuit board and 8pin din lead (from lingo to pcb inside the LP12).

I gather they are no longer available from Linn new.

Trying to pick up the BBC with my FM roof aerial this side of the pond (The Netherlands). Yes, I can get it over internet radio, but where is the fun in that. It is great fun playing about with Kremlin + MD205 Sleuth. Can anyone get me the FM frequencies for e.g. BBC Radio 3 in the Lowestoft area (which is closest by)?

Is there any love for this combo on the LP12. I would rather have the Denon 103 but I know it is a pain to fit to the Akito headshell. My dealer doesn't have access to the AT-F7 so unless I buy my own and pay for the fitting which I do not want to do as I'd rather buy from my dealer then I'm stuck with the Ortofon. I am used to the Ortofon sound as I currently use the MC20 supreme. I would rather have something warmer however if possible.

I have never decided on a major change (e.g. Keltiks to 242s; 4200s to Solos; 242s to Akubariks; passive Akubariks to Exakt Akubariks) without home-demo of the equipment, sometimes taking several weeks before finally committing. At every stage p/ex has eased the financial pain.

I can't say that in other circumstances I might not be just as happy with a completely different system. But I am certain that every improvement has been worthwhile, and am looking forward to the next and final (?) upgrade - Katalyst for the Exakt Akubariks.

Now that Simon @ MinimServer has implemented images for playlists, I've been playing around with them. Unfortunately, this Kazoo refuses to reflect some changed ones. It has some, but not most, and I can't figure out why.
Restarting the app doesn't seem to force a refresh, nor does restarting the device (tablet in this case). I've even forced a Minim rescan (although I checked the new images had been scanned by Minim, as they are reflected in Kazoo 4.8.xx on both the tablet and on Windows 7 machine). To no avail, so I am stuck with a mishmash at the moment.

Reinstalling kazoo may fix it but a) I shouldn't have to and b) I have no idea how to uninstall an app!

Recently I was lucky enough to put my hands on a KRDS/2, but obviously I don't have a remote to go with it. Considering Linn retailer is rather far from home, can I just get any universal remote to adjust the volume?

Is there any technical recommendation I should be aware of?

Konfig Beta came this morning, all fine. Now I've got Konfig 4.32.53 official... and it keep crashing on my Win7 laptop when I try to load my SO profile.

Scenario:
I have 2 Konfigs (one on my Win10 tablet and one on my Win7 laptop). I usually use the tablet for SO+ setting up, and I always export the settings to a file on my NAS. It is also a failsafe.

After this update on the laptop, it started up saying my system was unoptimised (I know it isn't) so chose "open from existing", and I imported the current settings file and selected the one I know the DS is using. It crashed. Now every time I select SO+, I just get the same cycle and it crashes when attempting to Load.

I don't want to update my tablet in case the same happens on there and I'll be left with two non-working Konfigs (which kind of defeats the object).

OK somehow in amongst all the shady Konfig updates and Beta releases today I have managed to get Konfig into an unstable state on mac sierra. It opens but crashes within a couple of seconds, annoyingly deleting Konfig and all of its associated files (cleaning the app as thoroughly as I can) does not fix it, even trying the current non beta does the same.

Any ideas for recovery? - as I say I have tried cleaning all file re-booting the mac etc etc.

Just heard the album "Gone To Earth" from Barclay James Harvest after a very long time.
Never been a fan, too soft in my early years.

Sounded now wonderful with great depth, very well arranged.

I was so ignorant Worth giving it a try, especially on vinyl.
