radio on Linn Classik Movie Di will not play

Hi!
I have bought a Linn Classik Movie Di second hand (but in "perfect working order and just been serviced") and the radio function will not work. Anybody have a idea of what may be wrong please?

One Klimax Solo warmer than the other

Hi All,

I recently sold some of my non Linn gear and I am now using the Linn Solo 's as my main amps. They were a non Dynamik pair that were upgraded a year or two ago to D.

I have been playing them lately and I think they are wonderful amplifiers, however I notice that one Solo always runs warmer/hotter than the other. It's not huge difference however it is noticeable. Both amps have excellent and equal ventilation. Can any one with Solo's let me know if this is normal or if a service visit is in order. regards

Frustrating At Times Using DS

At least a few times every month my DS loses it's configuration and can take some hours to relearn to my frustration. Could not fathom why this was happening until one night late on I noticed the lights in the room dimming slightly for a few seconds.
Immediately I checked the iPad and there it was configuration lost. so hit the relearn tab.
I'm really glad the DS is not my main source of music though when this happens I really feel like packing the DS unit in

Recommended Upgrade Path?

Hello from a new forum member and soon to be Linn LP12 owner. My dealer and I just transacted to provide me his demo LP12 Majik that I will take delivery of in about a month. The strength of my dealer and another LP12 friend's commitment to the LP12 pushed me over the edge to buy. The unit is basic with the Project 9cc tonearm and currently an Adikt cartridge (to be Lyra Delos in about 3 or 4 months when the order we placed is filled by Lyra). I believe the power supply is standard and the only other add on is a cover.

In reading about the tables, and I'm sure this is old arguments, some reviewers deem the LP12 performance as more "colored" and less bass than others amongst a few other shortcomings (as they presented). Having said all that, some of the same reviews say the music is simplified and "follows the tune" and is more rythmical overall which may not be wrong in my thinking (and has made it the winner it has been for so long). I like to hear detail, bloom, bass clarity / extension, sound stage depth, and presence in my listenings. I am a jazz fan and my system is tube based, ARC VS-115 (KT-120's) with a Ref2 Phono, LS27 Pre, a suite of mid level Nordost cables and interconnects, output to Vienna Beethoven Grands.

My question; will I see the performance I list above? what is a measured upgrade path recommendation for the LP12 to eventually reach a reference performance level? I can't just drop the money required in one swoop to get there. Should I consider upgrading the power supply first or the tone arm, Trampolin, etc.??? I'm really excited about getting the table and am sure I will have lots more questions but any thoughts you can offer now from your experiences are greatly appreciated.

Oh, has anyone every mounted their LP-12 on top of StillPoints? (I fully realize this may be heiressy!)

8K upgrade budget

Have opportunity to push the system a bit further having just sold my fun car... probably unlikely I'd spend the lot, but to make it fun/interesting lets say 8K limit, plus any sold items.

System at present is like this:-
The digital side is KDS/1/D and KK/D so all up to date there.
Power amp is KCT no Dynamik so a prime candidate.

Vinyl LP12 Keeled, Radikal and Tramp2, So all OK... Arm is Ekos2 with Lyra evolve99.... So some options there.

Speakers are PMC Fact8.

Modest size square room, about 3.6 x 3.8 meters, GIK treated.

Working back through the system I could blow the lot and trade the FACT8's in for some new FACT12...

Dynamik the KCT has been on my to do list for a couple of years.... recent LP12 upgrade opportunities kept knocking that back....
Or, replace it?

Push the LP12 further... Cart is up for replacement, it's served me well over many years, still great but maybe a change....

Many options and ideas I'm sure, obviously I have mine, but thought I'd throw it open to the collective here for some banta and debate Smile....

Lifestyle speaker recommendations

Hi,
I'm looking for a pair of white speakers that are small enough to sit on a window will and sound fairly decent. They're for the kitchen. Front end is a Sekrit DSi. Have been using a pair of JBL control 1, but would like something better.
Have heard Q acoustics 2020i and they'd be perfect except they're a little too deep for the sill.
Does anyone have any recmmendations? Budget not huge, maybe up to 350 or so...

Classik Movie 05 does not play CDs

Hello everybody,

I have a Linn Classik Movie 05 that I bought second hand with the disc tray/mechanism broken.

I subsequently purchased on ebay a new DVD/CD drive and this has solved the mechanical issues; that is, now the tray opens and closes properly.

Nevertheless, it still does not recognise or play cds most of the times. I'd say 80% of the time it won't load the disc. This appears to be a random issue. Also, it appears that DVD playback is not an issue.

I have gone as far as as to switch lenses and the problem remains.

Has anybody have had similar issues with CD playback with a Linn Classik Movie 05? ..... Or might be willing to speculate on the potential issue (and fix!)?

I know it's a long shot but I must confess that I love this little machine so I'd appreciate any help anybody might be able to provide.

Keilidh Connections

Hi, first post in a while.

A little confused re my current set up. I have:

Technics 1210 > Pioneer DJM300S > Linn Wakonda > LK140 > Linn Keilidh

It's all relatively new but I've had the same issue with the Keilidhs since being giving them a few years ago. They're not active and according to the manual should only be connected via the treble and bass inputs with a linking plate, which I have. If connected like this though I get no top end at all. I had the drivers replaced and still nothing. Was trying something out a few months ago and found that connecting the cables to the Active Bass inputs is the only way to get top end (and the best sound from the speakers), as per the attached image. The manual says this should never be done unless the speakers are active, hence my confusion! Any help greatly appreciated.

Kazoo server appearing/disappearing

Hi

I just installed a new central network switch - an HP 1810-24G.

All my devices appear to have IP connectivity.

I run Kazoo Server on a MacMini, and connect remotely to the MacMini via VNC to configure it. And I don't see any drops on the VNC connectivity to the MacMini.

However - in Kazoo control, I see my library for a few seconds, then it vanishes and I see "Searching for Music Library". It re-appears briefly after 30 seconds or so before disappearing again.

Is there some element of the Switch configuration that could be causing these drops? Any help diagnosing/correcting greatly appreciated.

Anyone else been listening to this album? In my opinion, it's about the best crafted and most original piece of rock based music I've heard in a years. Part of my reason for making this claim is not only do I feel it's magnificent musically, I can't get over how good it is sonically. Normally we are not treated to such sonic bliss from mainstream music. These boys are some special kind of artist. I started off with the 16bit and recently picked up the 24bit. Ohhhh my...there are so many creative layers in this album as it is and the 24bit takes those layers even further. If you haven't heard this yet, get it. If you have and don't agree with me, give it a few more listens. Simply Brilliant!!!

You can't get much more off topic but, my personal congratulations to Mr Mark Ramprakash, who has been appointed England batting coach.

I've seen Ramps bat countless times for Surrey as well as being in the privileged position of seeing him score 2000 runs at an average of 100 for the second season in succession.

In Kinsky it was click and hold, but this doesn't seem to be the case for Kazoo.

Any help appreciated.

Majik I and Knekt Receiver card not working

I got a second hand Majik I (Line version) with a Knekt receiver card installed. The Majik starts up at the source dB, lamps on the back of the receiver car are on.
However I cannot get any sound from my Knekt source (Movie 05) from the Majik.

The display on the Majik I is the standard display, so it has not been replaced by a RCU display. I can program my stand alone RCU (directly). I can control the Knekt sources from my RCU through the Majik, but I cannot get any Knekt source sound out of the Majik I. Everything works fine when I use a stand alone knekt receiver. What am I missing?

Kinsky to control CD12

Hi,
just got a used CD12 (1999/2000?), which I integrated into Klimax DS and Kontrol; however, I seem unable to control the CD12 through Kinsky (or Kazoo) whatever setup I choose in Config; note, I have connected RS232 cable between DS and CD12 (analog to Kontrol and DS, which works fine); Konfig lists CD12 when defined as source, but claims on the relevant CD12 page "no RS232".

Q: Could this be a Firmware issue of the CD12? - Which other Problem could cause it?

QNAP Installation x86 error

When trying to install Kazoo Server QPKG for QNAP, the QNAP app installation process fails with a message "Wrong architecture, Kazoo Server 4.2.503 is built for x86.
I am running Windows 7 Pro. 64 Bit. Is there a way to install the x86 onto this system via the QNAP interface?

Klimak DS and Dan D'agostino pre-amp

Hi There,

I am trying to connect Klimak DS with D'agostino Momentum pre-amp through XLR input and the result the sound was cracking but if I change to RCA it work just fine no cracking sound. Dealer said it has something to do with Klimak DS output voltage and impedance.

Anybody have the same experience maybe with different equipment.

Lingo 1 - service

I read somewhere that the Lingo 1 performance can be improved with a routine service - capacitor changes are mentioned and deletion of a mains input filter. My Lingo works OK but I'm thinking of having it 'done'. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who's had a service carried out.

PC Crash playing music by Jriver MC 18 with Songcast to Linn Akurate DSM

When I upgrade JRiver from MC 17 to MC 18 I have following problems: When I stream music with Songcast to the Linn Akurate DSM, the computer crashed. The Bluesreenshot points at Driverproblems. Driverupdates, Newinstallation of all Programms, nothing was successful. I used a free MC 20 Version but it doesn't work. So I delete the new MC Version and reinstalled my old MC 17 Version and as by a wonder it works and the music was streamed to the Linn Akurate.
My Linn Dealer told me it's a JRiver problem but the Jriver Administrator said: "If the songcast driver makes your system crash, then its a driver or hardware problem. If any software can make that driver crash your entire system, then that driver is terrible.
Software like MC cannot cause a Bluescreen. Only malfunctioning drivers or hardware can do that.
