My Roksan K2 amp's output is fed into a Quad 405-11 power amp and then out to a pair of MA Silver RX8's. All is great except when I need to use headphones late at night. Because the Roksan feeds its output into the Quad, the speakers do not cut out when the headphone jack is pushed in and I am currently just unplugging the speakers in order to silence them.
What I am asking your learned people is would putting a headphone amp/dac unit, or something similar, in between the the two amps do the trick or would the loss in quality when listening via the speakers be prohibitive? My budget for the headphone unit is about £350. I rather like the look of ADL GT40 unit but as yet not heard it. Or should I continue to unplug the speakers as when necessary?
As always, your words of wisedom are appreciated and always considered.
Thanks
