External Access to NAS

Hi All,

I have just replaced my NAS with a new Zyxel NSA325 - nice little unit with Twonky installed. I have fitted 2x2TB in RAID1 and all is working really well.

I have started to investigate the more advanced features related to NAS's. I have heard others mention they access their music externally (assuming the network speed is up to it). To do this I have created a new Service (called Twonky) on my router and setup external inbound access (port forwarding) to my NAS which has a 'fixed' IP for both Twonky and Web pae access.

Web page access works fine and I can now host my website myself at reasonable speed.

If I try and access Twonky all seems to work well. I type in http://my.external.ip.address:9001 and it shows the Twonky settings page and from this I can browse music (though not sure I get album art). But thats as far as it goes. If I click on an album to play it the page just hangs (interestingly the address in the browser changes to http://my.INTERNAL.ip.address... at this point).

I also tried to add the external address into Plugplayer but that didn't work either.

So HELP! What do others use for remote streaming control point? Any advice as to what I have done wrong? Should I setup outbound external access too?

Anyone help a poor old network dummy?

Dave
