Hi Folks
I hadn't used my WDTV Live Hub for a few months (having recently moved house) so as you'd expect, it prompted me to perform a firmware update. All went well and it all works as expected, but the sound level seems very high (for a given volume level setting on my KK) and it sounds a bit harsh during loud parts of the music; almost like it is clipping high level speech peaks. This is with me taking its digital output (Toslink) and performing the D/A with a MDSI, then feeding the analogue out from the MDSI into the KK.
I used to use it quite a lot for music concerts, and whilst it is a very cheap box (and thus you'd not expect any miracles) it sounded okay when using the MDSI as a D/A and I certainly don't remember it sounding somewhat sharp on peaks; from what I remember, it was actually quite acceptable at high volumes.
Has anyone else noticed this change in sound quality (which could have happened a couple of firmwares back as it hasn't been used for a while) or is it just in my imagination?
