I'm loving this recent trend by mainstream companies of releasing more LPs by contemporary classical performers. It was one of my main gripes with classical releases, that they were all stuck in a time warp of mainly the 50s,60s and 70s and that performing practices have evolved much since then. Today I received a new recording of Mozart Piano Concertos with Martha Argerich and the late Claudio Abbado

also Brahms Piano Concertos on a 2LP set on DG with the fabulous Helene Grimaud and one of today's rising conductors Andris Nelsons

I'm also looking forward to a new Linn release by pianist Ingrid Fliter of Chopin's 24 Preludes due in November which I've back ordered.

The lovely thing now is that I can pick and choose what to buy as there is a growing list of new releases with quite reasonable prices for 180gm pressings. I also like the boxed set releases from Decca & DG with selections from their larger CD sets. It all makes it a grand time for the classical vinyl lover!
