While reading this:

and this:

an idea came to mind:
when combined with a Raspberry Pi and Pete's Mediaplayer software, a MicroKiko could be put together which should give a pretty decent sound.
The Eclipse uses a Wolfson WM8742 DAC chip combined with a high quality D-Amp.
It won't be the same quality as a Kiko but will probably work extremely well in the kitchen or a smaller room.
Has anyone heard the Eclipses?
The Raspberry Pi could be extended with a USB 2/5" HDD and minimserver software to make a self-sustained micro DS system!
