Hi guys, new to this forum so here goes my first query. I will say that I have got excellent advice from my Linn dealer but am just interested in other people's opinion.
I have a combined music and AV system.
Music is Linn DS, Magic I and Magic 6100 amp powering Magic 140s (aktiv). Base is extended with a 126 Subwoofer.
For my AV, till recently I used a Denon 3312 going to a Linn Centre 112, pair of 109 rears and the 140s (through the Magic I). Blu Ray player is an Oppo 95.
Good mate of mine came up with the idea of binning the Denon amp / reciever, adding a 5100 to power the centre (aktiv) and rears direct from the Blu Ray player (allowing it to decode) so that is what I did. Definitely a massive improvement to movies as I have removed a weak link in my system however I need to manually set up the audio levels and swap the line in plugs to the subwoofer every time I change from music to movies (pair from magic I for music and single line in from Blu ray subwoofer line in/out).
Questions as follows:
Does this sound like a mad idea or do lots of people use the Blu ray player for decoding without an amp receiver?
Is there a switching box for the 2 sets of line in to the subwoofer - music / movies rather than pull out plugs every time from the subwoofer when swapping between music / movies?
Should I think of a separate receiver or use the Denon reciever (bypass the amps) to do all the decoding or is the Oppo 95 the best for decoding as I am now going direct from Blu Ray player to 5100 and 6100 and magic I.
P.s. how do you add a signature?
Thanks
