Mac Woes...10.9.3

Greetings all, longtime lurker finally breaking cover!

I've had a Majik DSi for about 12 months now, and having paid attention to setting up a decent wired network, it has been a delight to use. 95% of my listening is 44.1/16/AIFF files in iTunes, using SongCast, and this is rock-steady from my 2011 i5 iMac.

The problems arise with the few HD-ALAC albums I have bought from the Linn Store. Until my HDD died a few months ago, Kinsky worked OK for playing these at native resolution. The HDD was replaced under warranty, and I restored everything from a Time Machine backup. After that, Kinsky would launch but not work. Tracks and playlists were still there, but would not actually play. Looked in vain for uninstallation instructions, prior to attempting a reinstall.

Perked up when I saw Kazoo was being lined up as a replacement for Kinsky, but my experiences with that have been less than optimal:

It will play the HD-ALAC files, but length is all wrong, i.e. a track of 3'00" length will show as 2'10", and stop abruptly at that point. The files play correctly with other apps so I doubt corruption is the cause.

Kazoo has never appeared as a device in Konfig, although my NAS & Plex appear fine. Again, cannot find uninstall instructions for Kazoo. The last time I used it, it seemed to destabilize my system, as afterwards SongCast started stopping mid-track, which was an unwelcome first, but a reboot fixed that.

I'm reasonably tech-literate, and would like to clean up/uninstall before tinkering any further. If anybody has any alternative suggestions for HD-streaming from Mac, they would be very welcome too.

Needless to add, I've put a hold on buying any further HD files while this situation persists!
