Hi,
I recently purchased a used LP12 (s/n 67500 ish) which I believe dates it sometime in the mid 80's. It has the Valhalla PS and Basic Plus tonearm. Overall it's in very nice condition but needs a bit of TLC. Also, the platter currently does not turn - I suspected the Valhalla PS.
I have read several threads regarding failed Valhalla PS boards and the fixes most often recommended. I have worked with electronics for the better part of my life so I felt very comfortable ordering the replacement parts (Large Storage Caps, Power Resistors, Rectifier and Thermistor) and performing the repair. All went well replacing the parts - however the platter still does not turn.
Here's my question I hope someone can help with - when I measure the voltage across the Grey and Red motor wires I should get 85v - which I do upon pressing the on/off switch however, the voltage begins to drop slowly to near 0 almost immediately. Anyone have any idea what might cause this behavior?
Thank you,
Carm
