I recently purchased the Custom Design WMB-1 Acoustic wall shelf to accommodate a safe spot for my LP12. The sound improvement is clearly there and it will keep the equipment from being fondled with by my youngest.
The shelf came with an extra acoustic metal shelf called the iRap. I have placed it, but I am not convinced by the way it looks. The iRap is somewhat flexible and bends down a bit by the weight of the LP12. This causes the Trampolin feet to flex a bit outward, so they are not 100% vertical. I have not checked the sound of my turntable w/ or w/o the iRap yet, but it just doesn't look right to me.
Furthermore I was wondering if it would be a good idea to replace the tempered glass shelf with something heavier like granite or similar, leaving the surface more dead and making the iRap overkill.
Just my thoughts: what are your experiences with this shelf?
