I am considering getting a 2200 and have a question on the protecting circuitry of the akurate amps. I have a two year old boy who likes to hide behind the giant 802Diamond speakers. The speakers are connected via spades and once in a month or so he will manage to somehow dislodge a speaker wire. The new B&W 800 series uses some new connectors that make it impossible to really tighten them (unlike the wbt connectors in the past).
My current mcintosh amp has protection for shorting and I have seen that light go up a few times in the last year and found the dislodged cable shorting with the other terminal. Does akurate amps have any such protection so it detects short and shutsdown?
The cables are very expensive transparent cables so I don't really want to replace them and I like their sound. they are also very thick and heavy so their banana versions would not work as they would stick out and with the 2 year old stepping on them, he would probably break the whole terminal assembly over time :O
