New 'Edit Post' restrictions

I have been reviewing all my posts over the last couple of days, looking for anything that requires editing in order to alleviate any possible security concerns I may have, should I decide to 'opt-in' to the Real Names proposal.

However, the option to edit posts is now only available for 60 minutes from original posting time, making this impossible.

Anybody have any idea why Linn have felt it necessary to introduce this restriction?
