Netgear NAS NV+ V2

I run a Majik DSM with the Netgear NV+V2 Nas and I am about to throw the NAS out the window, it's driving me mad. The music server on it is dreadful. Half the time when i rip CDs to it, they don't appear in the list in Kinsky at all, sometimes the CD appears with no tracks. Sometimes I can make the CDs appear by going into set up, changing the share settings and then changing them back. Is this normal for this unit?

I don't seem to be able to install a better music server system on it and make it work - unless anybody else knows better?

Is the answer to ebay this Nas and get something different? If so, what? Or any other suggestions to get me round my frustrations. I thought this digital music was supposed to be easy, this certainly isn't.
